Let’s face it – even though the party is outside, somehow the inside of the house seems to get as much traffic.

It’s too hot or humid and people want a break from the weather.

It rains and now everything moves inside.

Of course the bathrooms are indoors.

The kitchen! It’s the staging ground for all the food – even if it’s catered.

No matter what, our outdoor events take a toll on the inside of our homes inside. Hosting a party is fun – but it’s also stressful. As professional cleaners, here are 3 fast tips that can help with overall party planning and maintenance:

Adequate Trash Collection Areas:

This is often overlooked or not thoroughly thought through. You need multiple trash collection areas as well as a place for dirty dishes or drinkware. Even if it’s as simple as tying a trash bag to tent poles, take the extra step to add a sign that says TRASH with a downward arrow, and you’ll be amazed at how that cuts down on you needing to provide instruction throughout the party and helps expedite cleaning afterwards.

Depending on the size of your party, we recommend at least three zones for trash in varying locations and two for dirty dishes.

PRO TIP: Include a separate collection bin for silverware at your dish collection stations. You’ll thank us later.

Stage or Allocate Kitchen Counter Space:

You know the type of food you will have at your party and roughly the amounts of each. It will be helpful to identify the areas where you want to put each type of food. Think salads, main dishes, side dishes, desserts, and condiments. Use small, table tent size signs and just jot down each category. This is especially helpful if guests are bringing food.

PRO TIP: Don’t forget the drinks! It’s helpful to have a drink area that is away from the general food area. This will garner a lot of traffic and repeat visits.

Have Bathrooms Ready for Heavy Traffic:

After the kitchen, bathrooms are the second highest traffic area for any party. Maybe swap out your smaller trash can for something a little larger if there’s room. Using paper towels vs. hand towels offers a more sanitary approach for drying hands and prevents people from using your personal towels. You can either put a paper towel holder on the sink or you can find nice foldable paper towels that are specifically for hand washing/drying.

PRO TIP: Put paper towels in a cute basket on the sink along with a bottle of hand lotion.

Above all, remember, your party is about the people and the occasion. ENJOY yourself!
